Gislingham’s Post Office van could be set to move to ease parking problems in the village.

A six week consultation has now begun to move the current mobile Post Office, in Broadfields Close, around 300 metres to Gislingham Village Hall Car Park. Its current opening times, of 11.30am to 1.30pm Monday to Friday, would remain the same. The same range of Post Office services at the current location would be available.

Chris Pitt, chairman of the Gislingham Parish Council, said :“The problem is that it is limited parking where the Post Office Van is at the moment, partly because there is restricted parking around the school so the van can’t always park where it needs to be.

“The Village Hall Management Committee has no objections to it, the Parish Council has no objections to it, so there is no reason why it shouldn’t go ahead.”

Post Office field change advisor Wendy Hamilton added: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Gislingham and we are confident that new location for the mobile Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”

During the public consultation, Post Office Ltd welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on this proposal. The consultation will close on April 7. Submissions can be made during the consultation by Freepost YOUR COMMENTS to Post Office Ltd, via email to comments@postoffice.co.uk, via the Customer Helpline on 08457 22 33 44 or Textphone 08457 22 33 55.
