The war-fallen of Redgrave cum Botesdale were remembered in a poignant evening last Monday.
Held at St Mary’s Church, Redgrave, around 30 performers conducted readings, and performed songs, music and drama to bring the names of the 24 men listed on the memorial in the church ‘to life’. Tim Hall, who organised the event on behalf of the Redgrave Church Heritage Trust, told the Diss Express more than £1,300 was raised from the evening.
“The evening went better than we dared hope,” he said. “The church was full and the response from the audience was incredible. There were so many memorable moments as the cast took us through the lives of 24 young Redgrave and Botesdale men and the battles in which they died.”
The money will be donated to Combat Stress, that helps UK Veterans with psychological injuries rebuild their lives, and Redgrave Church.
