Man’s three hours of pain for life-saving charity
A former Diss resident has endured three hours of pain to raise funds for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Lawrence Hain returned to the town last Friday to complete his fundraising challenge by getting an air ambulance helicopter tattooed on his chest.
Mr Hain, who was joined by his family at Pigmental Tattoos in Chapel Street, said he wanted to do something quirky.
He said: “When he first started it wasn’t too bad but it got more painful as he went on. But I’m very pleased with it. I think the pain will be worth it for the air ambulance to get the money. They receive no Government funding so whatever I can raise will help them.”
Mr Hain, who moved from Diss to Walcott in North Norfolk three years ago, had the Anglia One helicopter, which is based at Norwich airport, tattooed in the centre of his chest. Leigh Snowden, owner of Pigmental Tattoos, said it was an awkward place to do a tattoo, particularly as it was so detailed.
Mr Hain paid £100 out of his own pocket for the tattoo, a reduced rate as it was for a good cause, and 100 per cent of the proceeds will go to charity. So far he has raised £250 but hopes to collect more sponsorship. Visit www.justgiving.com/lawrence-hain to donate.
