Folks enjoying a walk along the riverside path behind Morrison’s supermarket may have come across some volunteer members of our Diss RiverCare Group carrying out Riverbank maintenance, some in a boat, some with litter-pickers and some with various pruning equipment.

We all enjoy our work and the friendly company and was delighted that one member has recently received the Honoured Citizen Award.

We are also fortunate that Morrisons have been supportive of our monthly working parties. Thanks to them we were granted permission for the mural painting on the riverside wall, and more recently, during severe storms, a large tree at the entrance to the path was felled and railings severely damaged again, Morrisons were quick to act in clearing the tree and repairing the rails. We were delighted with the result.

Our aim is to keep that area as an amenity for the people of Diss and thank Morrisons for their cooperation.

Beth Dewhurst, Colin Mobbs, Peter Knights.

Diss RiverCare Group.
