I wholeheartedly concur with the letter from Mr Pearson, (Diss Express, July 25) on the demise of the use of the word ‘sorry’, even in the most blatant circumstances.
It’s such a small word that can potentially ease a difficult situation.
May I also add that the words ‘thank you’ and ‘please’ also seem to have gone down this sorry path.
I have a Spanish friend, who used to say that the British always say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ much more than the Spanish.
Sadly, I fear she wouldn’t say that these days.
