Brewery giants, global pop music and art stars, and local businesses have joined forces to help a north Suffolk pub’s charity fundraiser.
The King’s Head in Laxfield is hosting an auction of promises from 7pm tonight, with more than 50 prizes - including an Alexander McQueen handbag -worth thousands of pounds collectively up for grabs.
Heineken and Carlsberg, Ed Sheeran, Sarah Lucas and scores of local traders have stepped up to help the cause.
Landlord Bob Wilson, said: “We are very proud of the fact that during our six years at this wonderful old pub, we have raised several thousand of pounds for local charities by hosting various fundraising events. This year we have selected The Targeted Radiotherapy Appeal at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, Addenbrookes Charitable Trust, and Macmillan Cancer Support as our chosen charities.”
The list of lots available on the night include a £200 ‘red letter day’ of your choice courtesy of Heineken, a signed 2013/2014 Ipswich Town FC shirt, donated by Carlsberg, a weekend B&B stay at Cratfield Cottage, a £50 meal-for-two voucher at The Swan, Hoxne, a £145 voucher from Mark Palmer Photography, in Framlingham, a £50 summer wear clothing voucher for Champion Outdoor, a signed Ed Sheeran T-shirt, a signed painting by renowned local artist Gerald Nason, a horse-drawn carriage ride for four courtesy of Bower Carriages & Supreme Carriages, a day’s labour from Nick Garrard Services, in Laxfield, a sculpture by world-renowned ‘YBA’ artist Sarah Lucas, donated by the artist herself, and a suite of bedroom furniture, donated by The Cotswold Company, which is based in Norwich.
