Two groups of Harleston slimmers are celebrating after shedding five-and-a-half stone between them while raising more than £600 for charity.

Eleven members across two groups of Harleston Slimmer World members, which are held every week at King George’s Hall and Archbishop Sancroft High School, were taking part in a national campaign called Slim for Good running across all 11,000 Slimming World groups in the UK and Ireland.

In the end, £654 was raised for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices, a charity chosen as two of the members and their families had been supported by the organisation.

Hannah Balaam, who runs the group, said: “Supporting a worthwhile cause like EACH has given everyone a special focus and real commitment to their weight-loss goals. For many members being sponsored has been a great way to kick start their weight loss and for others it’s been a boost to help them stay on track.”

The group celebrated their success with a party on Monday morning.
