Hardwick Church is benefiting from a Stage Two English Heritage grant of £75,000.
The Church is part of the Hempnall Group of Parishes, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, and Team Vicar Liz Billett believes the money will help the church to improve greatly.
“It will enable us to renew and upgrade the heating and lighting, as well as repairing the roof timbers and re-tile the roof.”
However, she was keen to add that the support and help of local people is key to the church.
“There are a lot of contributions from local people too. They work very hard to raise money for the church.”
More money needs to be raised however and the church will continue to organise events to do so, including an open gardens event on Saturday.
Money raised will also go to the charity Toilet Twinning, which provides clean toilets in third world countries.
