Grieving mother pays tribute to Diss teenager who died in Shelfanger road crash
Andrew Oakley
The grieving mother of a teenager who died following a road crash in Shelfanger on Saturday has paid tribute to her son.
Andy Oakley died after the Renault Kangoo he was travelling in collided with a yellow Ford Transit Tipper on the B1077 at the junction with Heywood Road shortly before 4pm.
Rachel Oakley, who lived with her 16-year-old son in Diss, said: “He was one of those wonderful people who could light up a room; he never let anyone down when it came to that.”
The former Diss High School pupil had recently started work as a landscape gardener.
Andy’s best friend, Ashley Wallace, was also in the Kangoo, and suffered serious injuries.
Andy’s boss, Bradley Tennens, who was driving the Renault, and Mr Tennens’ girlfriend, Cassie Potter, suffered slight injuries.
All three were taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
The passengers in the Ford were uninjured.
Three men, aged 20, 27, and 59, were arrested at the scene in connection with the incident.
All three have since been released on bail.
Anyone with information in relation to the incident should phone Sgt Alex Bucher at Swaffham road policing unit on 101.
