A move to relocate a village’s mobile Post Office van to ease parking problems has been confirmed.

The Gislingham Mobile Post Office moved to the village hall car park, in Mill Street, at the start of last month, around 300 metres away from its previous location.

It used to be positioned in Broadfields Close, and moved to the car park on April 7 following a consultation.

Post Office field change advisor Wendy Hamilton said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Gislingham and we are confident that new location for the mobile Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”

The mobile Post Office has the same opening times, and offers the same services, as it did at its previous spot.

It is open from Monday to Friday, from 11.30am to 1.30pm.

Chris Pitt, chairman of Gislingham Parish Council, told the Diss Express in March the parish council had “no objections to the move.”

The Post Office say under the current Parliament, the Government has committed £1.34bn for the Post Office network to make sure there is no programme of closures, and to update branches.

In November the Government announced a further £640m investment in the Post Office network, from 2015 to 2018.
