A pair of friends are hoping that a conversion of a dairy milking parlour into a beauty parlour could prove to be their cash cow.
Amanda Mills and Stef Adams, a mobile beautician and a mobile hairdresser respectively and good friends for 18 years, decided to get into business together about a year ago.
Willow Hair and Beauty, in The Street, Tharston, was visited by more than 70 people at an opening event on Saturday, with joint owner Mrs Mills saying they have been busy ever since.
Mrs Mills explained: “It was an old dairy milking parlour. It was on my land and both Stef and myself were mobile. It was just sitting there and it seemed like a waste of a good barn conversion.
“It is just giving somewhere for the community,” she added. “We have nothing in Tharston so it gives people the chance to get together.
“The long term aim is just to keep business coming through the door. We are not in it to make millions. We are just in it to make a bit of money. We both enjoy what we do and if we can give a bit of pleasure to people, that would be fantastic.”
