Saffron Housing Trust is offering small businesses the chance to get involved with their apprenticeship scheme for next year by hosting two free events in January.
The apprenticeship scheme, which was launched last year, sees Saffron, who have directly employed 20 apprentices, sponsor the employment on-costs, admin, mentoring and HR support, to make it easier for small businesses to take on an apprentice.
They are now working with Diss HighSchool, Wymondham Academy and local businesses to se up more apprenticeships for September 2014.
Since launching in 2013, a number of businesses in the Diss and Wymondham areas have benefitted, employing apprentices in areas such as construction, human resources, administration, IT and hospitality.
The first event takes place on Wednesday, January 15 at the Park Hotel in Diss, 8am to 10.30am. The following day, it will run in the Station Bistro, in Wymondham, from 8am to 10.30am.
Both will offer breakfasts, feature special guest Chris Perry, Educational Leader of Norfolk Chamber of Commerce, and gives the chance to join the scheme.
The events are free to attend, but must be booked in advance no later than January 8.
According to Saffron, smaller local businesses are largely unaware of the benefits to apprenticeships and are put off by the costs and commitment.
They say the scheme is to create jobs for local people that might not otherwise exist, to support local businesses grow and benefit communities.
