First ever Waveney Valley tourism conference

The Waveney Valley Tourism Forum is to host its first annual tourism conference.

Called Destination Waveney Valley, the event will take place on March 12 at South Elmham Hall.

The conference will bring together tourism businesses with an interest in promoting tourism in the area. Questions that will be tackled there, include - Why is this area still too often thought of as being ‘just somewhere you drive through’? How best to communicate to potential visitors the quality of experience the Waveney Valley can offer? Can Destination Waveney Valley be achieved?

Informative sessions on how to use social media for tourism businesses will also be offered at the conference, along with the launch of the new tourism website for the Waveney Valley: www.visitwaveneyvalley.co.uk)

The conference is being organised as a part of the second phase of the Waveney Valley Identity Project, a joint initiative between Mid Suffolk, South Norfolk and Waveney District councils.

Funded by the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE), the project aims to promote businesses along the river, identify local tourist attractions and support the area’s range of accommodation and food producers.

For more information, or to register for a place at the conference, call Madeleine Coupe on 01502 203636, or madeleine.coupe@waveney.gov.uk
