First business takes advantage of renewable energy Solar PV scheme in Suffolk

Sackers Recycling has become the first business to take advantage of Suffolk’s SABRE project by successfully installing a 50kw Solar PV system.

The SABRE project is a free service which offers small and medium sized enterprises in Suffolk the opportunity to discover their potential to generate renewable energy.

The three-year partnership project between Suffolk County Council and Groundwork East of England, on behalf of the Suffolk Climate Change Partnership, is part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, and provides businesses with independent and impartial support, giving advice on investment opportunities.

After attending the Suffolk Green 50 event earlier this year, Sackers Recycling approached a SABRE advisor and asked for advice on renewable technology to help reduce its energy bills and lower its carbon footprint.

The Solar PV installation that is now in use at its Great Blakenham site will have paid for itself by 2022, and it is estimated that more than £2,620 will be saved each year along with 21 tons of carbon.

The SABRE project will be supporting 120 businesses or enterprises over three years. Everyone who takes part in the project will receive a free independent and impartial Renewable Energy Feasibility Review and free support and advice on renewable energy.

To book a review, contact Groundwork East of England on 01394 444584, or email sabre@groundwork.org.uk.
