Farmers’ market set to celebrate 12th birthday
Lophams’ Farmers’ Market will be celebrating its 12th birthday next weekend with a champagne prize draw.
Held at the Lophams’ Village Hall in South Lopham from 9am to 12.30pm, there will be a free draw for a bottle of Moet and Chandon Champagne.
There will also be more than 17 food vendors selling a range of produce including meats, homemade cakes and pies, local ales, vegetables, local cheeses, preserves and more.
The market started in February 2001, just before the onslaught of that year’s foot and mouth epidemic.
Mike Shipperlee, one of the organisers, said: “Despite the early difficulties that the epidemic brought, the market has gone from strength to strength, and we have worked hard to maintain the original ethos of the farmers market movement, that being to make locally sourced and prepared food available directly to the public.
