A “lovely family” is the key to a long marriage, according to a south Norfolk couple who celebrated their 77th wedding anniversary yesterday.

Daphne, 94, and Stanley Green, 96, who married on March 27, 1937 at Old Buckenham Church, celebrated with a family get-together at their home in Roydon. Mrs Green told the Diss Express: “I think the one thing that kept us together is that we have a lovely family, and they are all wonderful.”

The pair met at Old Buckenham Hall in 1935, and married 29 months before the start of the Second World War.
