A haulage company based in Eye has continued its effort to cut expenses by bringing a fleet of more efficient lorries into service.

Bartrum Group, which was founded in 1929, introduced 20 new Euro-6 Mercedes-Benz Actros 2545s in the last month, each one featuring power-train control and advance telematics that the freight company believes will help save a substantial amount on fuel expenditure over the long-term.

Andrew Watton, business development manager at Bartrums, said: “Although the cost of the Euro-6 vehicles has increased significantly, the efficiency and performance that comes from the new vehicles is well worth the investment.”

Last year, Bartrums outfitted their entire fleet of operational vehicles with improved tyres, reportedly boosting savings by around 15 per cent.
