Entrepreneur follows her dream
Harleston, Norfolk. Carly Newton, 28, who's bought the Pen and Paper Shop in Harleston after she worked there for 4 years.
A YOUNG entrepreneur has followed her dream and bought the Harleston business where she has worked for the last four years.
Carly Newton, 28, reopened Pen and Paper in The Thoroughfare on Monday and said she couldn’t think of a better way to start running a business, having gained both experience and knowledge over the years.
“Everyone dreams of having their own business and being their own boss,” she said.
“It still hasn’t sunk in that the shop is actually mine.”
Miss Newton bought the business from the previous owners who retired at the end of May and put together a successful business plan to receive funding from Foundation East and The Prince’s Trust, who assigned her with a mentor who she meets with each month.
“I get help with things like accounting and daily paper work,” she said. “It’s really helpful to have someone else to talk to and give you a bit of guidance.”
Miss Newton said she has put her own stamp on the shop and will be stocking the same quality stationary as well as some new stock.
Opening hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, closed on Thursdays and open 9am to 4pm Saturdays.
l THE owner of Kids Stuff in Harleston, Judith Balls, contacted the Diss Express to say while Kids Wear is now closed her shop is still trading as normal.
