Diss Oxfam shop is calling for donations of unwanted items which, for the first time, will see every pound raised from sales doubled, thanks to the Government.

The initiative is part of Oxfam’s Mother Appeal to raise money and help women around the world to lift their families out of poverty for good.

The store will also be selling handmade brooches for a donation of £1 and offering a children’s activity to draw a picture of their mum for display in the store window.

Running until Mother’s Day on March 30, the Mother Appeal encourages people to celebrate motherhood the world over and hopes to raise over £10 million for Oxfam.

Sue Morgan, Diss Oxfam shop manager, said: “This is the perfect time for a clear out and we can turn your good quality unwanted items into cash to fund Oxfam’s work fighting poverty around the world. “Additionally, thanks to the Government, the money raised from your generous donations will be doubled, doubling the amazing difference you’re making.”
