A dog belonging to a rescue worker from Diss was won the £1,000 grand prize in a national pet photography competition, which will help pay for its medical treatment.

Kirstie Buckle, 25, and her Staffordshire bull terrier William received over 11,000 votes on social networking sites to triumph in Taylor Wimpey’s Pets Make A Home contest, which challenged pet owners to photograph their animals looking most ‘at home.’

The prize winnings will be used to help fund William’s operation to correct his elbow displasia.

Kirstie, who manages the Wattisfield-based organisation Little Angels Staffie Rescue, said: “I’m so pleased that William has won. William is a real baby and he loves to play and run around, which he can’t really do at the moment.

“This means so much to us because it enables us to pay for William’s operation. We have been fundraising, but winning the cash prize means we can free up those funds for other projects.”
