A charity shop in Diss that helps to support children with serious illness or injury was left devastated after burglars stole dozens of items following an overnight break-in.

Offenders forced their way into the EACH (East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices) shop on Chapel Street some time between 5pm yesterday and 7.30am this morning.

They subsequently made off with 60 DVDs, a collection of custom brooches, a white heart pendant and a collection tin containing money.

Sarah Throssell, the retail area manager for EACH, said: “We’re devastated that our Diss shop has been broken into.

“As a charity we rely on voluntary donations for the majority of our income, including shop revenue, so an incident like this means less funds to support local life-threatened children, young people and their families.”

Anyone with relevant information regarding this burglary is advised to call 101 or contact Crimestoppers via 0800 555111.
