Staff at Costa Coffee in Diss pedalled their way to Calais and back on Wednesday morning.
To be more accurate, that was the equivalent of the distance they cycled on fitness bikes at the Mere Street branch as they raised funds for the Costa Foundation.
Six staff members and one customer took up the challenge on bikes loaned by Fit Club Diss.
They raised £180 in donations from customers coming into the coffee shop as they covered 281 kms between them.
Chief barister Kelvin Cardwell said: “It was nice to see the public getting involved. We were pleased with the amount we raised in just two to three hours.”
The money will go to the Costa Foundation which supports communities in Vietnam, Guatemala, Colombia, Uganda and Ethiopia by working on schools projects in the countries where the company sources coffee.
Taking part in the Diss cycling challenge were Suzanne Pudney, Frankie Wildamun, Will How and Jonathan Keeling (pictured above from left to right), and Kelvin Cardwell, Laura Collins and local customer ‘Sheepo’. The majority covered 30kms each while one staff member managed 40kms.
