Chemical scare after contaminated man walks into surgery

A SOUTH Norfolk doctor’s surgery has reopened after a chemical scare this morning.

A man walked into East Harling Surgery at about 11am covered in vermin control chemicals after inhaling the poison.

It was thought he could have contaminated about 35 other patients in the waiting room.

Three fire engines, a chemical incident unit and an ambulance were called to the surgery in Market Street, to asses a possible decontamination.

The crews sought advice from the Health Professions Council but no traces of contamination were found on the man or other patients.

The surgery and road was reopened by about 1.30pm.

Fire crews came from East Harling, Thetford and Attleborough with the chemical incident unit from Sprowston.
