Businesses in Suffolk encouraged to go for apprenticeship cash

Businesses in Suffolk are being urged to take advantage of funding available to help them recruit apprentices.

Up to £225,000 of funding is available from the National Apprenticeship Service, which businesses can use to help give a young person an employment and training opportunity within their companies.

There are 150 sums of £1,500 on offer, and the funding can be used to contribute to an apprentice’s wages during their time with the business.

To be eligible for the funding, companies must have fewer than 1,000 employees, and cannot have taken on any apprentices in the last 12 months.

The funding is available to support apprentices between the ages of 16 and 24. The incentives are available for those in any sector of business, but Suffolk County Council is particularly keen to hear from the care providers.

Each business can apply for a maximum of ten incentives.

Suffolk County Council is available to help businesses through the process of recruiting an apprentice and accessing the incentive funding as part of the programme.

Employers who are interested in applying should contact the council on 01473 260922, or apprenticeships@suffolk.gov.uk
