When the Keane family took over the Brome Grange Hotel in November 2012 after it had been closed for 18 months, they couldn’t have imagined the change they would oversee.

Operating under the Best Western hotels banner, the business is going strong for the Keanes, who have recently started extension work that will see the hotel, off the A140, expand in size by 40 per cent.

Hotel manager Julie Campbell believes that this extension is a sign of the success the business is having.

She said: “Since 2012, the business has grown enormously and we are very strong at the moment. We are always busy.”

The building work on the extension started in mid-February and is ahead of schedule.

Ms Campbell said: “We were due to finish at the end of October. We can’t set a date right now but hopefully it will be open in the first few weeks of September.”

The hope for the business is that the extension will help it to improve, with a whole host of new facilities for both locals and guests.

She said: “There will be a new 60 seat restaurant, a new courtyard area, two new meeting rooms and a new spa and gym.”

Big news for the area is the creation of new jobs.

“The extension will create new jobs at the hotel. We are already starting to employ people locally,” she added.
