Breckland Council have followed officers’ recommendation to refuse planning permission for a solar farm proposed for Grade 2 agricultural land in South Lopham.

The solar farm was proposed for land south of the A1066 Thetford Road.

Submitted by AVIC-PCI Ltd, it was earmarked for 47 acres of land, and would have featured 34,000 solar panels.

Officers had initially recommended approval on the application, but, following an appeal for a solar farm in Tattingstone, near Ipswich, being rejected, the application was subsequently deferred, and officers changed their recommendation to refusal.

For full reaction to the decision, see this Friday’s Diss Express.
