The Botesdale Post Office is set for a move and extended opening hours giving people access to services seven days a week as part of a “major modernisation programme.”
The current Post Office, in The Street, will move roughly 50 metres to Ben Hill Cottage, The Street in Rickinghall and will open as a new ‘local’ style branch, renamed the Rickinghall Post Office.
The Botesdale branch will close on Saturday, March 22, at 12.30pm, with the new Rickinghall premises opening on Monday, March 24 at 1pm.
It means the Post Office will be open for an extra 32 hours a week. It will be open from 6am to 5pm from Monday to Friday, 6.30am to 5pm on Saturdays and 7am to 12.30pm on Sundays.
Post Office regional network manager for England South, Will Russell said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Rickinghall and we are confident this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
The Post Office say 8,000 branches nationwide are set to be modernised, with a further 3,000 outreach and community branches earmarked for additional investment.
