Local residents and customers have until February 3 to give their opinions on plans to relocate Botesdale Post Office from its present building to The Newsagents at Bell Hill Cottage, Rickinghall.

The move 20 metres along The Street is part of a plan to create a more modern, open-plan branch with longer opening hours, including Sunday openings.

A Post Office spokesman said when consultation closes, all feedback will be considered before a decision is made. While contracts have already been drawn up to speed the process, these are dependent on the relocation being approved.

The plans include extending opening hours from the current 9am-5.30pm (9am-1pm on Wednesdays) to 6am-5.30pm five days a week, and on Saturdays from the current 9am-12.30pm to 6.30am-5pm. The new Sunday openings will be from 7am-12.30pm.

Post Office regional network manager, Will Russell said: “We are confident that this new modern branch will make it easier for our customers to do business with us and also secure services for the future.”
