The 2014 Harleston and Waveney Festival will take place in August, running from Saturday 16 to Monday 25.

The 13th edition of the festival promises to be the most exciting yet with impressive acts and events throughout the nine days.

This year’s headline act is a trumpet and organ recital by the world famous Crispian Steele-Perkins and the internationally acclaimed Adrian Lucas.

Mr Lucas is described as a musician with true flair and imagination and is a regular contributor to BBC radio and television as well as running his own recording company, Acclaim Productions whilst Mr Steele-Perkins will be better recognised for playing the theme tune to the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow as well as working on James Bond theme songs.

They will perform at St. Mary’s Church, Redenhall on Wednesday, August 20 between 7.30-9.30pm.

There will be much more on offer during the festival, including music from Sole Bay Strings, a River Art Trail with Waveney and Blyth Arts, an art show with Wortwell Art Group and an evening with Star Wars sculptor Brain Muir.

As well as this Harleston Museum will be commemorating the 100th anniversary of the start of World War One with a display of images.

A brass band from the University of York will perform on the Sunday at the Swan Hotel, Harleston.

On the final day of the festival, a vintage and classic cars and tractors parade will lead to a Bank Holiday Family Fun Day and Companion Dog Show at the Recreational Ground.

“Our continuing aim has been to provide a varied programme of fine artistic performances for Harleston and other inspiring venues in our uniquely and beautiful part of the Waveney Valley,” said Robin Twigge, Chairman of Harleston and Waveney Festival Council.
