A history workshop at Redgrave takes on a real royal flavour later this month.
Pomp And Circumstances, Royal Ceremonies from Coronations to Jubilees, takes place at St Mary’s Church, Redgrave, from 10.30am to 4pm on Saturday, October 19.
The autumn history workshop sees the return of popular tutor Chloe Cockerill, who heads a day’s study into royal ceremonies.
These include Coronations, which are of special interest this year due to the celebration of the 60th anniversary of The Queen’s coronation, as well as the Garter Ceremony at Windsor, the State Opening of Parliament, and more.
The day is seen as a great opportunity to find our more about ceremonial robes, orders of chivalry or symbols of sovereignty.
Redgrave Church Heritage Trust holds history days twice a year and have proved to be very popular. People are invited to bring any 1953 Coronation souvenirs.
Tickets are £15 each, including a light lunch.
To book, send a cheque made out to Redgrave Church Heritage Trust, plus a stamped addressed envelope, to June Shepherd (01379 898450), at Mill Meadow, Hinderclay Road, Redgrave, Suffolk IP22 1SA.
