People turned out for an array of activities and games for the Alburgh Church Village Fete, staged at the playing fields on Saturday.

There was a raffle, cake and book sales, plants, produce and gifts on offer, while visitors could also try their hand at traditional games such as the coconut shy.

A mystery object challenge was also held, and budding bakers were invited to enter the Great Alburgh gingerbread shape contest.

£900 was raised, towards All Saints Church, despite the event being curtailed early due to heavy rain.

“It went surprisingly well,” said churchwarden Keith Donno, who also helped organise the event.

“We normally take £1,000 or just over but we got about £900 in an hour-an-a-half.

“A big thank you to all those who supported us.”
