A resident a The Depperhaugh care home in Hoxne celebrated her 101st birthday today.
Ethel Wright, who is the oldest resident at the home, celebrated the milestone with cards and a cake, followed by a trip out for lunch with friends.
Mrs Wright, who has a son and foster daughter, recently visited Bowhill and Elliot in Norwich, the shoe shop where she started work at the age of 16. She shocked staff by climbing a ladder, something she would have done all those years ago to get shoes down from the shelves.
Mrs Wright said her secret to a long life was years of being spoilt by her husband and father.
