The organiser of an annual charity cycle across the Diss Express area says it was his late uncle that inspired him to fundraise for good causes.
Ben Hopwood, 28, who works at the Cross Keys in Redgrave, will be part of a 15-strong group embarking on a 26-mile cycle on August 1.
Departing the pub at noon, they will cycle through Diss, Winfarthing, Tibenham, Banham, Kenninghall and The Lophams, before returning at 6pm for a BBQ and an evening of karaoke. Money raised will be shared between MND Association, Clic Sergent, and the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
The first two cycle rides have raised nearly £4,000 for good causes.
Mr Hopwood’s uncle, Jason Newman, suffered from motor neurone disease and died last year.
“He was very proactive in fundraising, so that has spurred the family on,” said Mr Hopwood.
“In the first year we raised money for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH). One of our regulars became ill with terminal cancer, and has sadly passed away now, and it was her chosen charity.
“It gave me the thought to ask regulars and people we knew and raise money for their chosen charity.
“Each charity we raise money for has a story behind it.”
