Works affecting a Kenninghall road which have been described as a ‘palaver’ by one proprietor have been completed.
Roadworks had been carried out by Power On Connections in Fersfield Road, laying a new electricity between Snetterton and Diss.
Robert Crone, proprietor and founder of Crone’s Organic Cider and Apple Juice based in the road, described it as a “palaver”.
“We have been pretty much blocked off,” he said. “There have been disruptions for weeks and weeks now.
“It is our busiest time of the year because we are in the apple juice and cider business.
“There is not that much fruit about and what there is, we can’t get it to our yard and if we manage to, we can’t get a forklift to unload it.
We recognise that this has caused some frustrations for local residents who have suffered inevitable disruptionNorfolk County Council spokesman
“Norfolk County Council have said nothing. The Parish Council have put some notices in the village newsletter but most of the signs have been misleading as the contractors are so far behind schedule.
Steve Gordon, Kenninghall Parish Council chairman, told the Diss Express the work had started “about 10 days later” than planned, at the beginning of September, but added disruptions were inevitable.
“As the roadworks pass by the houses, they have caused a temporary disruption of circulation. It is inevitable really, it cannot be avoided.
“By and large, they have done a good job to keep things moving.”
He added Norfolk County Council had sent out notices to inform motorists when the roads would be out of action, but ultimately were not accurate due to the delays in the work starting.
A spokesman for the county council said: “We have visited the site on a number of occasions to satisfy ourselves that the work being carried out meets national specification.
“We recognise that this has caused some frustrations for local residents who have suffered inevitable disruption.”
Craig Walker, a construction engineer overseeing the project for Power On Connections, confirmed the roadworks in Fersfield Road have been completed.
