The village of Hoxne was awarded the Mid Suffolk Village of the Year title at the end of the summer, after making it through two rounds of judging.
Children from St Edmunds Primary School and members of the Parish Council, District Councillor for the Hoxne Ward, Elizabeth Gibson-Harries, and the Mid Suffolk District Councillor for Communities, Diana Kearsley, all attended as the Chairman of Mid Suffolk District Councillor Derek Osbourne unveiled the sign.
A certificate was also awarded to the Chairman of Stradbroke Parish Council, Stuart Gemmill for his village which came in second place.
Hoxne’s competition entry co-ordinator, parish councillor Hannah Mayhew said: “We have a wonderful community that came together with enthusiasm and pride to present their village. Each organistation had a part to play in this award, showing that Hoxne has an energetic and diverse community with something for everyone.”
