A Harleston hotelier will don a set of heels and strut his stuff through the town next weekend — all in the name of charity.

Robin Twigge, owner of The Swan Hotel, will take to the Thoroughfare on Saturday, August 22, at 10am and 11.30am, mimicking Dave from the ‘You’re so moneysupermarket’ adverts.

It is all in a bid to raise the awareness of medical charity Crohn’s and Colitis UK.

While visitors will have the chance to see some ‘sexy wiggles’ and ‘bootilicious bopping’, people will also be able to find out more about two, often hidden, but debilitating medical conditions

Harleston mum-of-two Fiona Smith, who is organising the event, said: “I was diagnosed quite young with colitis, and have spent much of my life dealing with a condition nobody talks about and very few people know about.

“Both Crohn’s and colitis are debilitating bowel diseases and not obviously seen.

“It’s time to make it better known and understood, which is why I asked Robin to do something different to raise awareness and give everybody a good laugh.”

Mr Twigge, former regional chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses, said: “Fiona’s a good friend I’ve known for many years and I was delighted when she asked me to do this for the charity.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun, and for a really worthwhile cause.

“But I don’t know how ladies cope with high heels - I’ve been having to wear them while serving behind the bar to get used to them.”
