Further woe for Diss rail passengers as signalling fault continues

Delays on the Norwich to London line have continued into a second day due to a signalling fault.

The fault, at Swainsthorpe, north of Newton Flotman, was expected to fixed by 8pm last night.

But Abellio Greater Anglia are reporting delays of up to 20 minutes to London, and 10 minutes for trains Norwich-bound.

Disruption is expected to continue until at least 11.30am.

A statement on the Abellio Greater Anglia website read: “A signalling equipment fault (Track Circuit Failure) at Swainsthorpe level crossing between Norwich and Diss is delaying services to Norwich by up to 10 minutes and 20 minutes towards Liverpool Street.

“Journey times will be extended by up to 10 minutes towards Norwich and 20 minutes towards Liverpool Street.

“There is no firm estimate yet of how long disruption will last but it is likely to continue until at least 11:30am.

“Abellio Greater Anglia and Network Rail are sorry if your journey has been affected by this disruption.”

The fault is believed to have happened at around 11.30am yesterday.
