Funds provide a sporting chance
THREE young sports stars in south Norfolk have been given cash by Norfolk County Council to help them in their careers.
The Norfolk Sports and Culture Foundation has given up to 5,000 a year for up to four years to skier TJ Baldwin, 18, from Tharston.
He is ranked 12 in the world for Super G and 14 in the world for Downhill at under 18 level.
London 2012 target archery hopeful Tom Barber, 16, from Alburgh has also been given the funding.
Tom was selected as a reserve for Great Britian’s archery team in Beijing this year and was also first in the UK Senior Indoor National Championships.
Selected for a single payment of 1,000 was rising rugby star Tom Armes.
The former Wymondham College student, who lives in Rocklands, is a member of rugby giants Leicester Tigers’ full academy.
The flanker has already played in the full sevens squad and the second team and hopes to eventually move into the first team, like fellow south Norfolk rugby player Dan Hipkiss.
