Diss has so much to offer shoppers
The Diss Express this week launches a push to get more people into Diss to do their shopping.
The Get It In Diss drive aims to highlight businesses in the town and what they have to offer, as well as focussing on issues that affect them.
It is about keeping the town's residents shopping in Diss, as well as drawing in more people.
Diss has been described many times as a potential hub for business and shopping in the Waveney Valley and being ideally sited geographically between Ipswich, Norwich and Bury St Edmunds.
Birgitte Mager, director at Diss Publishing, reacted angrily to BBC Radio 5's breakfast show broadcast last month which highlighted Diss as a ghost town to the nation's listeners.
She suggested traders get together to help promote what the town had to offer.
The recession is hitting many businesses hard, but there are some long-established names on the Diss high street that have seen it all before and still survive.
To kick-start Get It In Diss, the Diss Express looks at some of those businesses and how they survived in the past and how they intend to cope now.
Business owners will also highlight some of the issues that traders in the town face, and what they would like to see change.
It includes some analysis of Diss town centre as a market place by Diss Express columnist, Diss Business Forum member, and managing partner of Articulate HLC, Jenna Cox.
And Get It In Diss does not start and finish this week.
It will continue, so if you have a business story that is a success story for the town, highlights an issue businesses in Diss are facing or any other news, contact business reporter Luke Page, 01379 658010.
