A veterinary nurse and pharmacy supervisor from Eye has won the praise of a Spanish animal charity after helping them secure vital medical treatment for more than 100 dogs living in a rescue centre in Murcia, Spain.

Sarah Olen, of animeddirect.co.uk, part of the CVS Group whose headquarters are based in Diss, has been assisting Galgos del Sol, to help treat rescued Galgos, traditional Spanish hunting dogs.

Through raising the profile of the charity through our pharmacy network, I was able to arrange for an emergency delivery of Effipro flea treatments to be sent out to Spain, kindly donated by Virbac

“Unfortunately the charity was in urgent need of donations for flea and tick treatments for over 100 animals they look after,” she said.

“Through raising the profile of the charity through our pharmacy network, I was able to arrange for an emergency delivery of Effipro flea treatments to be sent out to Spain, kindly donated by Virbac.”

“The Galgos del Sol centre is run by a British expat, Tina Soleras, who works tirelessly to raise funds and support the stray Galgos community in Spain. Funds are often in short supply, therefore I arranged donations not only from Virbac but we sent over some great toys for the dogs to enjoy from animeddirect.co.uk”

“Working with rescued dogs has been a great passion of mine and I’m delighted to see local and international companies come together to bring much needed medical aid and stimulation to these rescue dogs”

She is hoping to personally volunteer and visit the charity next year.

Tina Solera, founder of Galgos del Sol, added: “We were delighted that Sarah could assist with our urgent call out for medical support, and would like to thank Virbac and animeddirect.co.uk for supporting Sarah in her wonderful effort.”
