Dedicated volunteers in Eye donned their gloves and high-visibility jackets to help make a major dent in clearing the town’s street litter.
Around 23 people turned out in good weather on Sunday, March 22 to pick litter at various locations, which included the roads leading into Eye, The Pennings, the Town Moors and skate park, the footpath alongside the high school, and land beside the fire station.
Several volunteers also took part in painting the interior of the bus shelter in the town centre, while two people served refreshments in the Town Hall throughout the day.
Altogether, approximately 18 bags of rubbish were filled as a result of the day’s litter picking.
Maria Ford, of Eye Town Council, said: “The Town Council were thrilled to have such a jolly group of the volunteers whose many hands made light work, and the local businesses, Workwear and The Handyman for supporting the event.”
