A successful Diss street dance group are set to take the European and World stages this summer after another top performance at the weekend.
LK’s School of Dance, which was established in 2007 and runs classes in Diss, Long Stratton, Eye and Norwich, had several winning entrants at a competition in Peterborough on Sunday.
A team of dancers, dubbed ‘Diss-tinction’, as well as soloists and duos, will fly out to Germany on May 1 for three days of competition in the UDO European Street Dance Championships in Kalkar, and on August 28, will head to Glasgow in the World Championships version of the three-day event, which will take place at the SECC Centre.
Principal of LK’s School of Dance Lynne Bailey said: “I am so proud of everyone from LK’s that danced on Sunday, even if they didn’t qualify, they were still amazing. All of the hard work and hours of training are paying off.
“Not only did my team qualify, but they actually came first.
“We wanted Diss in the name so when they go to Germany and Glasgow, the name represents our town.
“I would like to give thanks to Place Farm in Stuston, who allowed me to use their Granary, free of charge on Saturday afternoon, for a bit of intense training for my street crew.”
She added fundraising events were to be organised over the coming weeks to raise funds for the cost of travel and accommodation. If anyone is able to help or make a donation, call Lynne on 07835021439.
