The results of the parliamentary election for the Central Suffolk and North Ipswich constituency have been announced. They are:

Jack Simon Abbott (Labour) - 10,173

MP Dr Dan Poulter holds Central Suffolk and Ipswich North ANL-150805-065959001

Mark Robert Cole (UKIP) - 7,459

Rhodri Griffiths (Green) - 2,664

Tony Holyoak (English Democrats - “Putting England First!”) - 162

Jon Neal (Liberal Democrat) - 3,314

Dr Dan Poulter (Conservative)* - 30,317

Conservative candidate Dr Dan Poulter has retained his Central Suffolk and North Ipswich Seat.

Labour were second, UKIP third, while the Lib Dems were fourth.

“I want to thank my friends and family and all my team who have worked tirelessly, particularly my mother and agent Carol, and father, and everyone who has come out to support me in this campaign,” he said.

“Thank you so much for your support.

“It’s a huge privilege to have served as an MP...and it will be a huge privilege to serve again.

“It’s a fantastic part of the world to represent.

“I will continue to do all I can to serve my constituents to the best of my abilities.

“Thank you so very much for your support. I will continue to do my very best for this constitiuency and the people of Suffolk.”

He faced competition from Jack Abbott of the Labour Party, Jon Neal from the Liberal Democrats, UKIP’s Mark Cole, Rhodri Griffiths, who represented the Green Party, and English Democrats PPC Tony Holyoak.

54,233 votes were cast, which equated into a 70.7 per cent turnout. a rise of 0.3 per cent.

In the 2010 election, Dr Poulter won the seat with a majority of 13,786.
