There is more to art in Mendham than Munnings
MENDHAM, home of the late great artist Sir Alfred Munnings, is celebrating the successes of home grown talent following in his footsteps.
Pupils from the village primary school have won prizes in the World Land Trust Children’s Art Competition held at the trust’s gallery in Halesworth.
Hayden Pretty-Kent took first place in the nine-11 age group with his picture entitled Ready For Take Off and Jacque De Boehmler was placed third in the five-eight age group with his picture Monkey Branch.
The rainforest-themed art work from six local primary schools and home educated children was on display last week. Renowned local artists Bob Linney and Tessa Newcomb judged the 210 colourful and diverse pieces of artwork.
The paintings were donated to the Trust and are available to buy, priced at £10. All money raised will go into the World Land Trust Action Fund for the purchase and protection of threatened wildlife habitats.
