Diss Rotarians camp out for Nepal earthquake appeal

Diss and District Rotary Club has expressed its gratitude for everyone who has supported those affected by the recent Nepal earthquakes following its successful camp-out collection event at Diss Park.

Club president Norma Howell, president-elect Dick Mitchell and vice-president Heather Babb, along with rotary district governor Nick Corke, spent the night of May 30 in a ShelterBox tent as part of an initiative to raise money and awareness for the disaster relief charity and its ongoing work in the Nepalese region.

Passers-by were educated on the ShelterBox – a temporary accommodation for those displaced from their homes – with the club stating 1,000 had been funded and sent to Nepal by British Rotary clubs.
