Diss and District Rotary Club has expressed its gratitude for everyone who has supported those affected by the recent Nepal earthquakes following its successful camp-out collection event at Diss Park.

Club president Norma Howell, president-elect Dick Mitchell and vice-president Heather Babb, along with rotary district governor Nick Corke, spent the night of May 30 in a ShelterBox tent as part of an initiative to raise money and awareness for the disaster relief charity and its ongoing work in the Nepalese region.

Passers-by were educated on the ShelterBox – a temporary accommodation for those displaced from their homes – with the club stating 1,000 had been funded and sent to Nepal by British Rotary clubs.
