A Diss employee has been nominated for a prestigious national award.
Helen Whelan-Jones, who works at Diss Publishing Bookshop, which sells books, gifts and stationery supplies, was nominated for the The Greats Gift Retailer of the Year Awards Employee of the Year.
One of five nominations in the category nationally, they will learn their fate at an awards evening, at the Savoy Hotel in London, on May 8.
“It is an honour to have been nominated because it is on behalf of the shop,” she said. “I would be flattered if I won the award. It would be nice to have that recognition for the years that I have put in.”
Diss Publishing director, Birgitte Mager, added: “People that work in the gift industry really are very committed people and they are in it for the love of the job. It is a really nice thing for Diss. It just recognises that businesses within Diss can stand their ground nationally.”
