A dedicated community cabinet intended for use by members of the public has been made available starting this week at Diss Museum.
Collection managers at the establishment, based on Market Place, have encouraged individuals and local groups to become involved in the new Community Cabinet project, which is funded by a grant from the Norfolk Museums Service.
They are looking for anybody who either has material they would like to submit for display in this newly-unveiled cabinet, or who is interested in investigating hidden stories within an existing exhibit in the museum.
According to a spokesperson for the museum, the aim is to create a rotating exhibition showcasing local people’s memorabilia or collections, allowing them to tell their stories and become involved in the town’s history.
The Community Cabinet Project is one of several initiatives being conducted in Norfolk as part of the SHARE Museum East’s Reaching Audiences Project.
