South Norfolk Council cabinet member Keith Kiddie has hailed the “incredible” response to the Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) events held last week.
The council ran events in Diss, Wymondham, and Harleston, as well as Loddon and Hingham
“We have now run 16 WEEE events and the response we get from our residents is incredible and I would really like to thank them all for their support,” he said.
“This is the first time that South Norfolk Council has run five consecutive WEEE events in our market towns. It was hard work but the fantastic results and the support shown by our residents have made all the effort worthwhile.
“Christmas trees that might otherwise still be sitting in the garden have been shredded and more than eight tonnes of electrical goods that would have ended up in landfill have been recycled or put back into use.”
The events give residents chance to recycle their unwanted electrical equipment, from toasters to kettles and televisions. Christmas trees were also taken. More than eight tonnes of goods were sent for recycling.
