Composer Sir Malcolm Arnold's piano gifted to school music
Musicians at a south Norfolk high school can now find new inspiration as they sit at the piano previously used by a giant of British music.
The piano of composer Sir Malcolm Arnold, who lived in Attleborough before his death in 2006, now sits in the music department of the town's high school.
The instrument was donated to the school after the late composer's partner, Anthony Day, contacted the school.
Mr Day said: "Malcolm loved youth and music.
"He wanted people to have pleasure through music and he would be so happy that students were enjoying using his piano."
The composer's honours included an Oscar for his score featured the film The Bridge on the River Kwai.
Headteacher Neil McShane said: "We are exceedingly grateful that Mr Day has chosen to donate this piano to Attleborough High School.
"To know that such a well-known musician played this instrument and created compositions with it will be an inspiration to all our students."
