The funeral service to celebrate the life of Lilian Edith Bartrum took place on Tuesday, July 22 at St Mary the Virgin Church, Wortham. The service was conducted by the Reverend Ginny Manning. Lilian was born at Willow Corner, Wortham to parents Cleon and Margaret with an older sister, Olive; a brother, Francis; and a younger sister, Joan.

She attended Wortham School, then Eye Grammar school, before doing her teacher training in Keswick. She worked in Norwich as a teacher then at Diss Infant School for the 14 years leading up to her retirement. She loved her garden, and grew vegetables and flowers. She also kept pigs, geese, and ducks. Lilian was a very sociable lady, attending Wortham Good Companions and the Kettle’s On at Burgate. She was a lovely, generous lady, who was very knowledgeable and lovely to chat to. She will be sadly missed.

Family mourners were: Mr and Mrs R Perry, Mr and Mrs L Moir, Mr and Mrs A Moir, Miss H Moir, Mr D Moir, Miss C Bruni, Mr J Branson, Mr R Callaby, and Mr and Mrs J Cook.

Cremation took place later at West Suffolk Crematorium. There were family flowers only, but donations can be made to the Suffolk Wildlife Trust c/o Rackham’s Funeral Service, The Waveney Chapel, 43 Stanley Road, Diss IP22 4BN
